Google's spokespersons cut off CNet reporters?

Staci Kramer found an interesting story buried in article on CNet's News.com. In a brief posted on PaidContent.org (one of Kramer's other gigs, in addition to writing here for OJR), Kramer notes that Google's reps are refusing to talk to CNet reporters until June 2006. The dust-up results from Elinor Mills' look at the information that Google collects about its users, both collectively and individually.

In the past, such industry flaps played out in private. But now, with the greater transparency available through 24/7 online publishing, more people, both in and out of the news industry can learn about such incidents.

So here's the question for discussion: Have you, or your news organization, ever been “cut off” by a source over a story? Why? And what happened next?
