Wikinews rallies citizen journalists
From
dotJournalism: Citizen journalists have a new front for revolution, according to journalist Erik Moeller. More than 700 people have already signed on as contributors for the open-publishing network known as
Wikinews. The project, a journalistic version of the online encyclopedia
Wikipedia, consists of news stories written, edited and posted by users, who Moeller believes can establish themselves as worthy competitors for representatives of the
AP and
Reuters. But to do so, they?ll need cash. ?The next revolution I want to see is therefore a revolution of funding: paying for citizen journalism through distributed donations made by hundreds of people who share a passion for truth, honesty and openness,? Moeller said.
