New FCC rules are a partial victory for open-network advocates

The New York Times has says the new rules for an upcoming auction of the broadband spectrum are a partial victory for Google.

A New York Times article reports that forthcoming FCC rules for an upcoming auction of the broadband spectrum will require licensees to make the spectrum available to devices and software by other providers and manufacturers. The move is seen as a partial victory for Google,as well as for activists who are worried that Verizon and other telecom giants will monopolize the spectrum.
