Freedom of the press on college campuses: would the facts come out?
In the past year there has been a lot of upheaval in the college's administration which has revealed an administrative culture built on secrecy. In fact, despite the college president being forced out, trustees resigning, etc., no direct communications have been sent to any alumni that factually describe the situation. Instead, alumni have had to rely on a blog created by a couple of student writers. The blog has been very helpful to a wide range of people concerned about the future of the college because it presents facts which illustrate the friction happening at the college.
I wonder if this sort of situation could happen at USC, or if a contentious situation like this would be reported on, in an unbiased manner, in the school newspaper, website and alumni publication?
