I run J-Lab: The Institute for Interactive Journalism at the University of Maryland. J-Lab spotlights interactive news stories and news games, it rewards innovations in journalism throught its Batten Awards for Innovations and it funds hyperlocal citizen media start-ups with small grants with funding from the Knight Foundation. J-Lab is a spinoff of the Pew Center for Civic Journalism, which I also ran for many years.
