Puntland:: 20 September,2008 SOJRA is condemned the arrest of a Somali online website journalist Abdi-kani Isma'iil Goh

The journalist was arrested on Wednesday, 17 September, after head of Somali Red Crescent (SRC) in Las Anood Mr Daakir Ali Nuur submitted to police a complaint against Abdikani Isma'il Gooh, regarding news report on SRC’s food distribution that the journalist published on the internet. In the news report concerning residents protesting how the food was distributed.
The head of the police, who presented to Abdikani copy of this news report the journalist published, also accused the journalist of not having official recognition letter or identification from Somaliland Ministry of information to work as a journalist in Las Anood.
The arrest of the journalist was ordered by head of Somaliland police division in Las Anood, Mr Abdi Muse. When Puntland office of SOJRA contacted the journalist in the prison in police station, the journalist said the SRC head in Las Anood was behind as the police officer told Abdiqani.
"We denounced the detention of our colleague Abdikani Ismail Goh and we demand his immediate and unconditional release” said Awale Jama Salad SOJRA's Puntland representative.
Recently Somaliland police in Las Anood also arrested two Radio Las Anood journalists, namely Abdiasis Suleiman Ahmed and Mohamed Ali Elmi, for being against policy of Somaliland administration in Las Anood.
