Rich Cameron has been the chair of the Journalism Department (Mass Communications as of 2005) at Cerritos College since 1997 and teaches a variety of journalism classes and advises the school newspaper, the Talon Marks. Prior to that he taught at West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif. for more than 16 years. He has also taught at Reedley and Merced colleges, both California community colleges.

He also serves as the online communications director for the California Journalism Association of Community Colleges.

He has a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Calif. State University, Fresno, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from CSU, Fresno and an Associate of Arts degree in Journalism from Reedley College.

He was honored by the California Newspaper Publisher's Association in 1989 as California's Community College Outstanding Teacher of the Year and in 1992 by the national College Media Advisers Association as a Distinguished Service Adviser. In 1997 he was inducted into the national Community College Journalism Association's Hall of Fame for journalism teachers. In 2003 he was given a lifetime achievement award by the California Journalism Association of Community Colleges, the first ever awarded in the organization's history. In 2006 he was honored by Cerritos College as one of its Outstanding Faculty.
