OJR: The Online Journalism Review

December 6, 2007

What do applicants need to know about the online news business?

  • We're asking news website managers to tell us, via an online survey.
  • Yahoo!

Financial support for OJR is provided in part by Yahoo!:
Yahoo! is proud to partner with the Newspaper Consortium consisting of almost 400 daily newspapers. The partnership combines newspapers’ high-quality content and local market relationships with Yahoo!’s leading technologies and extensive online audience. www.Yahoo.com

Last year, newspaper website editor Anthony Moor wrote a piece for us, urging journalism students to consider a career on the Web. This year, as part of OJR's continuing effort to get more journalists working on "our" side, we're putting together a survey of website managers to find out what students, and, increasingly, mid-career journalists need to do to prepare themselves for working on the Web.

Therefore, if you are a supervising editor or manager of a newspaper, TV, radio, portal or independent news website, could take a moment to complete the following survey for us?

Thank you, for advance, for your help, and we'll run the results in an upcoming article on OJR.

The survey is now closed. However, we welcome information about your online news hiring plans. Please e-mail OJR using the "Contact the Editor" link at the bottom of the page.
