I like the anonymous tip line and the cleanness of your site. But it's hard to figure out how you can cover so many communities with so few reporters on staff. We're trying something here at the J-school--maybe a model for other J-schools--of using students to do hyperlocal coverage in five different communities. They're learning as they're reporting and the sites have been a great teaching tool. My class came up with http://missionlocal.org/ for San Francisco's Mission District, others 510report.org, oaklandnorth.org, inemeryville.org, and eastbaywestonline.org are covering communities in the East Bay. It's amazing how much great content students can produce, but our question is how to sustain these during school breaks and whether residents want and will read hyperlocal coverage.
